Modern Slavery Statement
Modern Slavery Statement for Man and a Van Harrow
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps Man and a Van Harrow has taken, and continues to take, to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains. We are committed to conducting business in an ethical, transparent and responsible way and to ensuring that modern slavery has no place in our organisation or the services we provide.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Man and a Van Harrow operates a clear zero-tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour and exploitation. This commitment applies to every aspect of our business, including our directly employed staff, temporary workers, contractors and all third-party suppliers.
We expect the same high standards from everyone we work with. Any involvement in, or failure to act upon, suspected modern slavery is treated as a serious breach of our values and may result in termination of employment or commercial relationships, as well as referral to relevant authorities where appropriate.
Our Business and Supply Chain
Man and a Van Harrow provides local and regional transport, removals and related services. Our supply chain includes vehicle leasing and maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, equipment and packaging suppliers, and occasional subcontracted labour and logistics support.
Because our services rely on both direct labour and third-party services, we recognise the potential for risk in relation to working conditions, working hours, pay practices and the rights and freedoms of workers engaged in our supply chain. We therefore take active steps to identify and manage these risks.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We require our suppliers and subcontractors to uphold high ethical standards and to comply with all applicable laws relating to employment, human rights and modern slavery. Before engaging with a new supplier, we assess their approach to labour practices and ethical conduct, including expectations regarding the prohibition of forced, bonded or involuntary labour.
We reserve the right to conduct audits, site visits or information requests to verify that suppliers meet our standards. These audits may include reviewing employment records, right-to-work documentation, working conditions, health and safety arrangements and grievance procedures. Where issues are identified, we work collaboratively with suppliers to implement corrective actions within reasonable timeframes. If a supplier fails to demonstrate adequate remediation or cooperation, we may suspend or end the business relationship.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels
Man and a Van Harrow encourages all employees, workers, contractors and business partners to raise concerns about modern slavery or unethical labour practices as early as possible. Concerns can be reported to a line manager, a senior member of the management team or through any internal reporting route communicated during induction and training.
We are committed to ensuring that no person who raises a concern in good faith suffers any form of retaliation or disadvantage as a result of speaking up. All reports will be treated sensitively and, where possible, confidentially. We will investigate any allegation of modern slavery promptly and take appropriate action, which may include notifying authorities and supporting affected individuals.
Training and Awareness
To support the effective implementation of our zero-tolerance policy, we provide training and guidance for relevant staff, particularly those involved in recruitment, supplier management and workforce supervision. Training covers the signs of modern slavery, how to respond to suspected cases and the importance of ethical conduct in our day-to-day operations.
We also promote awareness among our wider team by communicating our expectations, policies and reporting arrangements on a regular basis, ensuring that everyone understands their role in helping to detect and prevent exploitation.
Monitoring, Governance and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing our approach to modern slavery rests with the senior management of Man and a Van Harrow. They ensure that appropriate policies, procedures and controls are in place and are kept under regular review. We monitor the effectiveness of our measures by tracking supplier performance, investigating any reported concerns and reviewing the outcomes of audits and internal checks.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least annually to ensure it remains current, effective and aligned with changes in legislation, industry practice and the scale of our operations. As part of the review, we consider whether further training, enhanced audits or updated contractual terms are required to strengthen our approach.
By publishing this Statement, Man and a Van Harrow reaffirms its commitment to acting ethically, supporting the protection of human rights and working proactively to eliminate modern slavery and human trafficking from our business and supply chains.
